Medicare Secondary Payer (MSP) Compliance
In response to MSP mandatory reporting requirements, the experts at Hamlin & Burton have developed a streamlined process and efficient system for completely meeting our clients' MSP reporting obligations. Via CHaRT® (Claim Handling and Reporting Technology), required data is captured, claimant Medicare eligibility is queried, and required reporting is submitted on behalf of our clients. We provide a cost effective and industry best MSP mandatory reporting service. The RRE registers and provides requested information. We take care of the rest.
National Practitioner Data Bank (NPDB)
The Health Care Quality Improvement Act of 1986 led to the establishment of the National Practitioner Data Bank (NPDB), an information clearinghouse, to collect and release certain information related to the professional competence and conduct of physicians, dentists, and other health care practitioners. It requires that certain payments of medical malpractice claims be reported within 30 days of payment. Hamlin & Burton provides guidance through the registration process and account set up, gathers data, and reports to NPDB and any applicable State Board to complete the requirements of Federal Reporting.
State Regulatory Reporting
There are various state reporting requirements in addition to those mandated by the Federal Government. Hamlin & Burton maintains a database of state specific reporting requirements and our skillful professionals will work with you to ensure your compliance.
Claim Indexing Through ISO ClaimSearch®
Hamlin & Burton clients can reduce the risk of fraud in the claims industry by having Hamlin & Burton index its bodily injury claims, either per claim or on an as-needed basis, through ISO ClaimSearch® via CHaRT®. A more comprehensive records search can be conducted as needed.
Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC)
The Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) requires businesses to aid in halting circulation of terrorist funds and other illegal funds. OFAC monitoring is automatically conducted through CHaRT® and matches are addressed procedurally.
HIPAA and HITECH Compliance
The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) established standards for the electronic exchange, privacy and security of health information. The final modifications to the HIPAA Privacy, Security, Enforcement and Breach Notifications Rules Under the HITECH Act enacted on January 25, 2013 strengthened the privacy and security protections for individuals. The HHS is enforcing fines for violations of the Security and Privacy Rules against Covered Entities, Business Associates and Subcontractors.
Hamlin & Burton ensures that medical and personally identifiable information for individuals is disclosed and used only for its authorized and intended purpose through the use of Business Associate and Subcontractor Agreements, encryption technologies, CHaRT® programming and training.
